Fixed term 12 months (40 hours), based at Hoani Waititi Marae in Glen Eden West Auckland.

The Kaiarahi / Navigator will develop and implement whanau aspirational plans within a community setting using a case management model.

A key function will be to engage with clients and their whanau to provide facilitating activities, services and opportunities to support the aspirations of whanau to become self-managing. This will assist them to take responsibility for their health, economic, cultural, and social development and wellbeing.

The overarching principles that will guide this programme will include:

  • Living healthy lifestyles
  • Participating fully in Te Ao Maori and in society as a whole
  • Economic security
  • Successful involvement in wealth creation and cohesion, resilience and nurturing
  • Strengths-based service delivery leading to measurable Whanau Ora gains and outcomes.

To be a successful applicant:

  • A relevant health, social science or humanities qualification would be advantageous;
  • Knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and Tikanga Maori; Te Reo Maori is preferred;
  • a willingness to participate and an understanding of cultural processes
  • An understanding of working with whanau, and of the local Maori community;
  • Problem solving experience
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft products
  • A full NZ Driver Licence.
  • Police vetting is applicable.
